First time in 15 years Belarusians won the World Championship gold in rhythmic gymnasticsThe competition in group exercises in program of all-around ended at the World Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Kiev.


The Belarusian team in the squad of Valeriya Pischelina, Anna Dudenkova, Marina Goncharova, Mariya Kotyak, Alexandra Narkevitch and Yana Lukovets (coach - Tatiana Nenasheva) won this competition. Belarusians received 35.708 points and went one and a half point ahead of Russia's national team who were the third with 34.225 points. Silver was won by Italy - 34.733 points.


The previous time Belarusian rhythmic gymnastics celebrated such success in 1998. In Seville Olga Zaitseva, Galina Malashenko, Anna Glazkova, Tatyana Belan, Irina Ilyenkova and Anastasia Zvariko became the world champions in group exercise in program of all-round. The honored coach of Belarus Tatiana Nenasheva led the team to the gold medals.


Earlier three bronze medals in the individual competition of the World championship in Kiev were won by Melitina Stanyuta who was the third in the Olympic all-around form (clubs, ribbon, ball and hoop) and in separate exercises with the ball and ribbon.
