Belarus has reached the highest positions in the world with the level of the youth with higher educationAccording to UNESCO, Belarus has reached the highest position in the world with the number of population in the corresponding age with higher education.

 

For example, in Belarus the number of students to the number of people in the corresponding age is 91.5%, Spain - 84.6%, Ukraine - 79.7%, Estonia - 76.7%, Russia - 76.1%, Norway - 74 1%, Lithuania - 74%, Poland - 73.2%, Austria - 72.4%, Sweden - 70%, Germany - 61.7%, France - 58.3%, Kazakhstan - 44.5%. The Republic of Korea with  98.4%, USA - 94.3% and Finland - 93.7% are ahead of Belarus in rating.


According to the National Statistics Committee, in the 2013/2014 academic year, the number of students per 10 000 population of Belarus was the highest among the CIS countries - 417 people (Russia - 394, Kyrgyzstan - 391, Ukraine - 380 people).

Almost one in five young people of the republic - the student. At the beginning of the 2013/2014 academic year, in 54 universities of the country were teached 395.3 thousand of students of bachelor degree and 7.6 thousand students of master degree.  There are 13.9 thousand of foreign students among them (3.4% of the total number of students).


Incidentally, among the students there are  14 girls to 10 boys.


The third part of all students study for free. In public universities 57% of full-time students are educated for free. About half of the students (49.6%) are educated in absentia.
