Pinsk history dates back to 1097. It is the second city by the number of surviving monuments in Belarus after Grodno. Pinsk is southern city of Belarus, it enters the top ten in terms of population. The town got its name from a tributary of the river Pripyat – Pina.

In the late 80-ies of XX century it was decided to erect a new Orthodox cathedral in honor of the patron saint of the city Theodore Tiron - St. Fedor cathedral.

One of the oldest parks in Belarus is Park of Culture and Rest named after the Red Banner Dnieper flotilla. The park was named after the Dnieper flotilla assault, which played a decisive role in the liberation of Pinsk from Nazi invaders.
