Short film "Shoes" can compete for the Oscars.Short film "Shoes" directed by Konstantin Fam dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust has passed qualification of the Academy Award. Now the picture is fighting for the chance to receive the prestigious award in the short film category.

This is an unique event in the history of the Belarusian Cinema, said co-producer of the project from the Belarusian side Yuri Igrusha. Long list of candidates will be announced in mid-January 2014. Then only five candidates will became finalists for the Award. "Oscar" will be held traditionally in Los Angeles on March, 2 2014.

The film has unusual cinematic language: viewer can see only the legs of heroes in the frame. The filmmaker Konstantin Fam tells the story about a pair of women's shoes beginning in the shop window and ending at the grave of prisoners of the Auschwitz concentration camp. The director explains the way to interact with the audience only by ideological considerations.

The picture has no dialogues. There is symphonic music written by the composer Yegor Ramanenka throughout the film. The young composer had a difficult task to create a musical atmosphere that would replace dialogs.

"Shoes " has already become a participant and winner of more than thirty international film festivals.
