"Belarusfilm" will make a movie together with Emir KusturicaNational Film Studio "Belarusfilm" will take a part in a new film project of Serbian director Emir Kusturica.


Studio "Belarusfilm" and the French film company CINEMA SOLEIL signed a Memorandum of co-production of full-length film "When, if not now?" of Serbian director Emir Kusturica. The screenplay of the movie was written by Kusturica together with Gordan Mihichem based on the novel of the Italian poet, writer and translator Primo Levi.


The action in the film will take place in the times of the Second World War on the territory of Belarus. The movie describes the partisan struggle against the Nazi invaders. Primo Levi's novel was written in 1982 and won the prestigious literary awards in Italy - Campiello Prize and the Prize of Viareggio.


Emir Kusturica - a Serbian film director, famous screenwriter, actor and producer, whose films received awards of largest film festivals in Europe, including two "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes Film Festival. The director is a Knight of the Legion of Honor, a foreign member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Serbian Republic. Emir Kusturica was awarded with the prize of the Belarusian President Aliaxandar Lukashenka "For the preservation and development of traditions of spirituality in cinema."
