Belarusian Victoria Azarenka has won the first Grand Slam tournament in this year. She defeated Chinese Li Na (4:6, 6:4, 6, 3) in the final of the Australian Open tennis tournament.
This is the second victory of Victoria in this tournament in Melbourne. A year ago she beat Maria Sharapova in the final match, and after this event she became number one in the world ranking.
After the match Victoria Azarenka said:
- I'm really happy. It was a long match. It was a tough match. Li Na demonstrated excellent tennis. (...) I'm happy that I went through all the trials coped with conditions and showed the best I can do.
She was also asked: - How much harder is defending the title than winning it?
- Never thought about it in this way. My main goal was to win another title. It was not easy with the boom, driven in the press. But this was a new experience for me, answered Victoria.
