On August 3, in Minsk the temperature record for the entire period of meteorological observations was beaten!On August 3, in Minsk the temperature record for the entire period of meteorological observations was beaten! In 1936 on July, 29 the temperature in Minsk reached +95 ⁰F (35⁰ C), what has been an absolute record for a long time. But on the 3rd of August 2014 this bar was taken.


According to the data from the website meteocenter.net, on that day the temperature of 96.8 ⁰F (35,6⁰ C) was fixed in Belarusian capital. The maximum of that  day belonged to Marjina Horka (Minsk region) – 97.7 ⁰F (36.1⁰ C).


On Monday and Tuesday the weather was hot what was determined by a very warm periphery of extensive anticyclone centered over Arkhangelsk region. At the same time the north-west of Belarus has received less hot air from the Russian Plain. Hot weather without precipitation has remained till today – the 6th of August, when in the end rain with thunderstorm came to Minsk and the temperature decreased to 82.4 ⁰F (28⁰ C).


Also today from 2 p.m. till 9 p.m. in many regions of Belarus  thunderstorms and sometimes rains were expected. The daily highest temperature was in the range of 80.6 ⁰F (27 C) - 89.6 ⁰F (32 C).
