Minsk National Airport set a record in 2012: 1.8 million passengers were served
Minsk National Airport in 2012 served 1 821 543 passengers, that is 27.4% more than in 2011, informed the press service of the airport. In December 2012, passenger traffic through the main air gate of the country reached 124 745 people.

In recent years it has been a steady rate of growth in both passenger and cargo traffic. "Convenient locations of Minsk National Airport at the intersection of international roads make it convenient for transit flights. In 2012 the number of transfer and transit passengers increased by 33.6% up to 49,573 people ", -informed press-service.

The millionth passenger at the airport passed in early August last year, which is much earlier than in previous years.

Each year, the airport expands the geography of flights which it operates. For instance, in 2012 there were opened three new regular flights to the Russian city of Novosibirsk and Cherepovets and to European Barcelona. Currently, regular flights are performed to 39 international air destinations in Europe, to the Middle East and other regions.

The main airport of Belarus continues its efforts to expand the network route and to increase the frequency of flights which are already running.
