International competitions in figure skating "Ice Star 2014" will be held in Minsk on October 17-19
International Skating Union (ISU) has granted the right to hold rating competitions "Ice Star" to Belarus from October 17 to 19. They will take place in "Minsk-Arena" with the participation of athletes from 13 countries.
"Ice Star 2014" - rating competitions, in which skaters will be able to gain extra points that affect their access to future European and World Championships.
The tournament this year will be attended by more than 220 athletes from 13 countries. The competitions will be held in the main arena and skating rink "Minsk-Arena". Medals will be awarded in figure skating and ice dancing.
It is planned that in the days of the tournament "Ice Star 2014" in Minsk eminent representatives of figure skating - coaches and athletes will demonstrate their skills. Among them, the Russian dance pair Ksenia Monko / Kirill Khalyavin who took the first place at the international competition "Cup of Nice 2012", together with their coach Alexander Zhulin.
Among the Belarusian athletes at the "Ice Star 2014" the national champions of the last year in the men's and women's figure skating Pavel Ihnatsenka and Darya Batura will perform, as well as the champions of the first junior Olympics the dance couple Yauheniya Tkachenka / Yury Hulitski. The famous coach and choreographer Nikalai Morozau put the program for Belarusian dancers Victoryia Kavaliova / Yury Belyaeu, who will perform at the upcoming competition among adults skaters (in the category Senior ice dance).
Competitions "Ice Star" first time were held in Minsk in September 2012. Since the season 2012/13 they are included in the list ranking tournaments ISU. Their main direct organizers are the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of Belarus, Belarusian Skating Union (SBR), MKSK "Minsk-Arena".
