The symbol of the Polish capital is Warsaw's famous mermaid with the face of a girl from Belarusian Palesse. The model of sculpture, which was installed in 1939 on the bank of the Wisla, was Christina Kagelskaya a native of the village Mazurki (near Baranovichi, Brest region).

Most of the former prisoners live in Vitebsk (7.4 thousand) and Gomel (6.4 thousand) regions, and less of all in Grodno region (less than 2.1 thousand).
