Most of the former prisoners live in Vitebsk (7.4 thousand) and Gomel (6.4 thousand) regions, and less of all in Grodno region (less than 2.1 thousand).

Legislation provides benefits including an increase in pensions to these Belarus citizens. It is set at 100% of the minimum old-age pension (this is the same as that of World War II veterans from the Leningrad blockade, and more than 50% if compare with pensions of home front workers). In addition, for former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, ghettos and other places of detention there are a set of taxes, housing, employment and other benefits.

Since January 1, 2012 pensioners receiving pension in the labor, employment and Social Protection departments, have monthly supplement: for those who reached 75 years - 75% of the minimum old-age pension, for those who reached 80 - 100%.

In February and April 2013, the minimum old-age pension (25% of the living wage on average per capita) is Br 231,038 thousand roubles (approximately 26$).

According to the decision of the United Nations April, 11 is the International Day of liberation of Nazi concentration camps.
