One of the fallen staff of the magazine Charlie Hebdo Michel Renaud was married to the woman from Gomel.

Vasily Nekrashevich from Gomel caught a fish with 62 kilograms weight and 185 centimeters length. He fished on the Sozh river near the village Babovichy. 

At least four sightseeing in Belarus can be included in the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO.
They are:
1. Kamianetskaya Vezha.
2. The defense church in the village Synkavichy.
3. The Church of the Jesuits in Niasvizh.
4. The palace and park complex in Gomel.
