Babruisk fortress

Bobruisk fortress was built in 1810, after the decree of Emperor Alexander I. It was built by thousands of soldiers and serf peasants from Mahiliou, Minsk, Charnihau provinces. Materials were transported from Ukraine, Karelia, the Caucasus, the Urals. In the fortress near Bobruisk served all Jewish soldiers of the Russian Empire, because in the XIX century for Jews was introduced a compulsory military service.

Now the monument is abandoned. It will remain dilapidated not for long. By 2015, on the site of the ruins it is planned to create Historical and Cultural Complex  “Bobruisk fortress” with museum objects, where original samples and dummies of military equipment and weapons will be placed.
