In Niasvizh a treasure hunt will be heldOn October 18 experts will look for the treasures oRadziwill family, according to the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Niasvizh”.


In autumn 1939, a few days before the arrival of the Red Army in Niasvizh the last owner of the castle Leon Radziwill hid at night his personal jewelry in a safe place outside the castle. For 75 years it remained a family secret until his granddaughter Diana Radziwill-Carabba during her last visit to the museum this summer told it.


The experts from the Institute of History, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will explore the area, where presumably the treasures were buried. Tourists will also be able to observe the search process.


The architectural and cultural complex of the former residence of the Radziwill Family in Niasvizh is one of the main attractions of Belarus, that is in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This historical monument is interesting not only for its above-ground structures, but also for the dungeons and crypts.
