Belarusian documentary film "Daughter of Prypyat" won the Grand Prix of the festival Magnificat-2014
Belarusian documentary film «Daughter of Prypyat» («Dachka Prypyaci») won the Grand Prix at the International Catholic Festival of Christian Films and TV programs Magnificat-2014.
The film "Daughter of Prypyat", directed by Igor Byshnev (Belarusian Video Centre), was filmed in 2012, and tells the story of an elderly woman who lives near the Prypyat River.
All in all 43 films from 16 countries were shown at the festival and 28 different films were awarded. Three films were marked by special prizes. The documentary film "Stand up and go" (studio "ZAraZ", Belarus) received special prize from the twin-town festival Niepokalanow (Poland). The children’s jury decided that the winner among cartoons was "Who is longer" (Spain, directed by Gregorio Muro).
International Festival Magnificat – is a review of the works of the masters in the field of cinema and television that are created in different Christian traditions and aimed at the support of universal values . The forum has been held in Belarus since 2005. The festival is patronized by the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Belarus, founded by the Catholic Association Signis-Belarus and the studio "Stop-kadr", the Catholic Diocese of Vitebsk and the magazine "Dialogue".
