Do you know when Belarusians celebrate Christmas?
About 30% of Belarus population (Catholics and Protestants) meet Christmas on December 25 and about 30% of Belarusians (Orthodox) celebrate Christmas on January 7 (according to the Julian calendar).
But the holiday which unites all Belarusians is New Year.
New Year is a family holiday and the majority of Belarusians spends the night with the family and rich variety of dishes on the table. New Year brings special joy to children, since New Year's Eve is the funniest time in the country. All around the country people dress up the Christmas tree, have parties, concerts, buy products for New Year's table and various decorations, prepare and send to each other gifts and cards.
