A symbol of Warsaw has a face of Belarusian girl from Palesse

A native of the village Mazurki (near Baranovichi, Brest region) was the model of the sculpture, which was installed in 1939 on the bank of the Wisla.

The symbol of the Polish capital is Warsaw's famous mermaid with the face of a girl from Belarusian Palesse. The model of sculpture, which was installed in 1939 on the bank of the Wisla, was Christina Kagelskaya a native of the village Mazurki (near Baranovichi, Brest region).

Approximately 32,5 thousand of former Nazi concentration camps prisoners, ghettos and other places of detention live in Belarus.

Most of the former prisoners live in Vitebsk (7.4 thousand) and Gomel (6.4 thousand) regions, and less of all in Grodno region (less than 2.1 thousand).
