The castle in Navahrudak.

Navahrudak - one the oldest cities of the Belarusian land. According to some data the Navahrudak castle was built at the beginning of XII  century, on the other - at the beginning of XIII. What we can see now - the ruins from XVI century.

For a long time the castle was the residence of grand dukes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

The first destruction of the building took place during the war of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth with Russia. Finally the castle was destroyed during the Northern War, when the Swedes blew up the remains of buildings, leaving bare walls. The castle was built on one of the highest points of Belarus, at an altitude of 323 meters above sea level, with a great view on Naliboki Forest.
